This Sunday, January 27, Berlin Art Link and Pampero Colectivo will present, De Joode & Kamutzki’s 2013 Winter Auction. Founded in 2010, De Joode & Kamutzki is a Berlin auction house founded by artist/curator Rachel de Joode and artist/auctioneer Maria Kamutzki held biannually at varying locations in Berlin. The goal with each event is to make contemporary art accessible to everyone. They do not see art as a luxury good that one might consider purchasing after everything else that money can buy. Art is essential. Their mission is to inspire people to invest in great artwork not for the sake of its speculative resale value, the status symbol attached to it or as a way to spend money. They want people to buy art out of love, fascination and admiration.

This year’s auction will feature an impressive line-up of international artists including Cécile B. Evans, Iris Touliatou, Jennifer Chan, Letha Wilson, Shana Moulton, Parker Ito, Jared Gradinger & Angela Schubot and Landon Metz. A total of 42 works will be presented with starting prices from €50 – €1000.

A new special feature for this year’s auction is the addition of live bidding with a video feed from Berlin to New York at Stadium Gallery (in Chelsea gallery district), enabling New York City and Berlin bidders to simultaneously participate. In Berlin, the event will take place on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Karl Marx Allee 78, (above the old Karl-Marx-Buchhandlung), and will start at 7pm, with doors opening at 6pm. In New York the city satellite location will be at Stadium Gallery in Chelsea, 548 W. 28th Street Suite 636 and will begin at 2pm, with doors opening at 1pm.
