Last weekend saw the Forum Factory play host to an intriguing artistic exchange between the cities of New York and Berlin. Emphasizing the clear affinity between each location’s experimental side, predominately within the mediums of photography and painting, ‘New York Meets Berlin’ was a successful handshake. Highlights of the show included Bernhard Winkler‘s disorientingly chaotic photographs and Stephanie Nückel‘s vivid, large scale portraits featuring the intense female gaze. Galina Troizky‘s combining of found image collage and painting created wormhole cityscapes, and Richard Cutrona‘s exploration of American identity through the blurring of Western and Middle Eastern aesthetics on lenticular print had a powerful effect.
