When is the last time you heard a person described as “well-done”? This is Lara in the film Love Steaks, presented at first as the foil to “rare” Clemens, her new co-worker at a luxury hotel. As with any mismatched pair — Lara the leather jacket wearing screw-up at work and Clemens the earnest, blushing newbie — there are bound to be some mishaps. In the trailer alone, raw meat, skeleton masks, streakers, massage oils, torches, and police confrontations all flash by with grinds of metallic industrial music playing in the background.
The film has already been praised as the winner of the 2014 Max Ophüls Prize and has won all four Young German Cinema Awards at the Munich Filmfest.
On Thursday, March 20, the Berlin Film Society will present a preview screening of Love Steaks, directed by Jakob Lass. After the screening, award-winning producers Ines Schiller and Golo Schultz will be available for an audience Q & A. The event celebrates the launch of the Film Society’s new Spring/Summer program at Prince Charles in Kreuzberg.
The screening will be in German with English subtitles. Tickets are €8 / €6 for Berlin Film Society members. RSVP ESSENTIAL: rsvp@berlinfilmsociety.com
