Deutschlandradio Kultur – Radio Drama / Klangkunst and CTM Festival, in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut, the SoCCoS – Sound of Culture, Culture of Sound network, Ö1 Kunstradio, and ORF musikprotokoll im steirischen herbst are releasing their third call for projects associated with this year’s CTM Festival Theme: New Geographies. The criteria for submissions requires an innovative approach to the medium of radio, combined with experimentations in live performance or installation, and should take the form of a 40-55 minute long radio version. The call extends to artists worldwide who are working in experimental music, sound art, radio art, new radio, and performance.
Having received over 300 submissions last year, a panel of five judges, consisting of international artists, curators and journalists, will have the testing job of selecting just two commissioned works for this year’s CTM Festival. These works will benefit from a wide range of exposure; in addition to being presented as a Deutschlandradio Kultur – Klangkunst broadcast, they will be premiered as a performance or installation at CTM 2016 Festival in Berlin (29 January – 7 February 2016). The works will also be presented by the Österreichischer Rundfunk (Austrian Broadcasting Corporation) via one or more of their platforms (depending on the character of the works): the ORF Zeit-Ton or Ö1 Kunstradio radio shows, and/or the ORF musikprotokoll im steirischen herbst festival in Graz. Not satisfied? Each work will be supported by a generous € 5,000 grant, plus production costs, and the lucky winners will be invited for a two-week residency at SoCCoS in Berlin prior to the premiere at CTM 2016.
The application deadline is September 15, 2015, and the winners will be notified by October 5, 2015.
