Head On Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the work of photographers at all stages of their careers, encouraging innovation, making photography accessible to all and raising awareness of important issues through photography. The organization’s Head On Photo Festival is calling for photographers to submit work across four categories: portrait, landscape, mobile and students.

The competition is open to professional and emerging photographers, photojournalists and artists. The deadline for submission is 28 February 2016.
Anonymous judging ensures each work is selected solely on its merit rather than the celebrity of the photographer. Judges include past winner Louise Whelan, and the managing editor and publisher of Feature Shoot magazine, Alison Zavos, who judge the works with knowledge from a variety of backgrounds.
Award winners will receive prizes including cash and merchandise with a total value of over $50,000, including a variety of Fujifilm cameras, the Adobe Creative Cloud, and annual memberships to the Australian Institute of Professional Photography also in the pot. The first-prize winner in portraiture will be awarded $5000 (AUD), amongst other features to help promote the continued development of the artist.
Across 4 categories, 13 judges and 150 finalists, Head On Awards will represent a global selection of the best works. The winner pieces will be displayed respectively: portraiture, mobile and student at the Museum of Sydney, with landscape at NSW Parliament House.
