For the 8th annual residency programme at the Seoul Art Space Geumcheon, approximately 12 Korean and 14 international individuals or groups of artists will be selected from the fields of painting, installation, video, or photographic art. The residency is three months for international artists, and one year for their Korean counterparts. There are four residency periods for international participants starting June 1st. The opportunity offers workshops, education programs, expert support, an open studio, and exhibition and professional PR services for the artists to collaborate and foster multimedia creativity.
The contest hopes to uncover and support the world’s best up-and-coming artists. Since 2009, Seoul Art Space Geumcheon has hosted 234 artist teams from 33 countries. The facilities were formerly a old print press located in Doksan-dong neighbourhood, but now include 19 private studios, a cafeteria, multi-purpose hall, workshop room, community art lab, media lab, shared warehouse workshop, and two lounges.
The deadline for submitting your approximately 20 page portfolio, plus the application to participate is 16:00 (Korean Time) on March 22nd. If selected the residency programme offers free onsite accommodation, financoal support to international artists for their round-trip tickets, and covers partial costs for exhibiting in the Seoul Art Space Geumcheon.
