LUX and the Goethe-Institut London invite artists who are based in Germany and work with the moving image to apply for this year’s residency, which will take place from May to July 2018 in London. The residency offers artists a generous monthly stipend (€1,500), accommodation in an apartment at the Goethe-Institut London (including space for partners or family, if required), and dedicated desk space at LUX—a UK agency that supports and promotes artists in London working with the moving image.
The specific context of the residency is LUX’s international collection of artists’ moving image works, its location, and its networks and working practices. This year’s residency is also organized to coincide with the 200th anniversary of Karl Marx’s birth and is organized in collaboration with Highgate Cemetery, where Marx’s grave is located. Applicants should propose how their work and research will particularly respond to this during the time of the residency. Applicants should also have a minimum of five years of professional artistic practice working with the moving image.
