International Artists Can Now Apply for the 5th Future Generation Art Prize

June 4, 2018

The Future Generation Art Prize, a biannual contemporary art prize held by the Pinchuk Art Centre in Ukraine, is inviting international artists to apply for the fifth edition of the prize. This year marks the 10th anniversary of its founding by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation with the aim to give recognition to and continue supporting a young artist. The inaugural winner Cinthia Marcelle represented Brazil at the 57th International Art Exhibition and the 2012 winner Lynette Yiadom Boakye was nominated for the Turner Prize and has gained global recognition for her painting practice.

Until June 29th, artists below the age of 35 from around the world and working in any medium are encouraged to apply online. A short-list of 20 artists, selected by a respected jury-appointed committee, will be announced on August 27th and these artists will be commissioned to create new works to be exhibited at both the Pinchuk Art Centre in Kiev and the 2019 Venice Biennale, which will be curated by the artistic director of the Pinchuk Art Centre, Björn Geldhof.

The main winner will then be announced next year at an award ceremony on March 6th and receive 100,000 USD to be split between a 60,000 USD cash prize and a 40,000 USD investment in their practice. Additionally, 20,000 USD will be awarded as a special prize shared between up to five artists, chosen by the jury, for supporting projects that will help them to continue developing their artistic practice in the future.
