VRHAM! is Germany’s first artistic Virtual Reality festival. From June 7th to 15th, 2019, it will once again take place at Hamburg’s Oberhafenquartier, comprised of an extensive artistic program and complemented by a diverse series of talks. Whether interactive works, 360° films or installations in Virtual, Augmented or Mixed Reality: VRHAM is interested in unusual artistic approaches.
The theme of this year’s festival is “Dis:Solution”. To complement the theme, VRHAM is looking for artists to present their own interpretations of dis:solution and de:limitation, considering questions like ‘where do we cross borders?’ and ‘where do they blur?’ The festival is open to applicants who focus on a variety of media, material, political, physical or associative aspects, taking into consideration how VR experience relates to the subject of “Dis:Solution”.
This year’s open call covers three categories: the VRHAM! main program includes artistic VR/AR/XR works presented in specially designed spaces; Hamburg Emerging Artists presents Hamburg’s young VR artists to an international audience; and VRHAM! residencies through which two creative teams of up to three participants each can (further) develop innovative works in the field of Virtual Reality art and 360° film, accompanied by renowned international mentors.
The festival takes place in cooperation with Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein in the context of the North Sea Interreg project Create Converge.
