Manifesta 13 Marseille is looking for local, regional, or international private and public institutions, non-profit organisations, artists, and professionals to participate in the biennial’s Parallel Events program, ‘Les Parallèles du Sud’. Non-artistic and non-cultural partners are also invited to apply, as long as they reflect Manifesta 13 Marseille’s main ambition ‘Trait d’union,’ which is conceptualised in a time when human and environmental issues are urgent and complex. A specific focus will be on the following questions: What do we learn from the plural roots of a city informed by several generations of migration? What forms of knowledge are born out of this new generation of individuals with complex biographies? How do we create new forms of relationships that can reveal parallels between the local and global context?
All proposed projects should be in line with the high-quality standards of Manifesta 13 and interdisciplinary approach of projects will be particularly appreciated. The projects should have at least 2 partners, including one regional partner, with a clear international dimension. They will take place in Region Sud during Manifesta 13 Marseille, from June 7th until November 1st, 2020.
The projects are self-organized and self-financed, but benefit from the international outreach and visitors of Manifesta through a dedicated marketing and communication strategy across digital and analogue channels of Manifesta 13 Marseille including the website, guidebook, press conferences, outdoor design, social media features and printed material.
