In a surprising turn of events, Art Basel, under the name ‘Paris+ par Art Basel,’ has expanded to the French capital and in doing so, forced the tradition-rich art fair, Foire Internationale d’Art Contemporain (FIAC), out of its venue, the Grand Palais Éphémère. Where FIAC will locate it’s offering this year remains to be seen, but for Art Basel, the entire city is a potential exhibition space. Intent on creating a unique Parisian experience that will set this fourth iteration apart from its sister locations in Basel, Hong Kong and Miami, Art Basel has initiated ’Sites,’ an offsite program in “four emblematic settings throughout Paris,” including the Jardin des Tuileries and Place Vendôme. We visited the inaugural exhibition and compiled a few photos to give you a glimpse into Art Basel in Paris.
