Open Call for IMPAKT Festival 2023

IMPAKT Festival 2023 is looking for curators, programmers or organisers working at the interface of digital rights, art and technology to take part in next year’s edition. ‘Reclaiming Digital Agency’ is the theme of IMPAKT 2023, and it will address digital rights, data control, privacy, as well as digital agency and lack thereof.

IMPAKT Festival 2023 collaborates with CODE, a co-creation project on digital agency that IMPAKT initiated in 2021 and has been organising for two years with partners in Germany and Belgium. CODE refers to an ethical code of conduct and legislations that governments and Big Tech companies should adopt to protect users’ rights. IMPAKT Festival 2023 will present the results of the CODE programme so far, together with additional discursive events, performances, films and artworks, and discussions with politicians focused on the political and economic exploitation of technology’s power.

Both individual and teams of curators are eligible to apply, experienced and established as well as emerging talents. The different formats accepted are panels, presentations, screenings, performances, exhibitions and other curated programmes. Proposals that bring together varied experiences from science, public interest, politics, journalism, human rights, and that can entertain a dialogue with other projects are encouraged.

In order to apply, please submit your resume highlighting relevant activities, a summary of your proposal between 100 and 200 words, the full concept described in 1000 to 3000 words including a preliminary list of other participants and, if possible, pictures too. The application should include the answers to the questions provided on the website and can be submitted in English or Dutch through the form below.
