Aurora XR School for Artists at the Berlin University of Applied Sciences is inviting individuals and teams from the artistic fields of visual arts, music, literature, performing arts, design, photography and video art to apply to a fellowship in Berlin. The open call aims at recruiting strong artistic concepts in combination with augmented, mixed and/or virtual reality in different areas such as interactive 3D sound/music, shared cultural experience, social challenges etc.
Applicants should possess the following prerequisites: basic knowledge in XR technologies, openness for interdisciplinary collaboration, commitment to continuous regular meetings during XR development and independent work phases. Experience in interdisciplinary cultural projects is desirable. The fellowship will provide support to the winners in the development of their projects, experience in XR development methods, a close collaboration with an interdisciplinary XR expert team, digital media production, premises at the Research Center for Culture and Computer Science of HTW Berlin, state-of-the-art equipment and XR Art & Networking 2024 as a public platform for presentation of the XR project after completion of the collaboration.
In their application, applicants should include a letter of motivation of approx. 2,000 characters, an outline of the concept with at least one visualisation (e.g. sketch, model) and of the required work packages and responsibilities, a short CV and a portfolio of previous relevant work. For each open call, one fellow will be selected for a fellowship of several months at HTW Berlin. Applications can me submitted in German or English, to xr-open-call@htw-berlin.de by April 15, 2023.
