Open Call for ‘Exploring Porcelain’ Artist Residency

Dec. 19, 2024

The Hochschule für Gestaltung (HfG) Offenbach, supported by the Crespo Foundation and the Aventis Foundation, is offering an international residency program at the Höchster Porzellan-Manufaktur (HPM), from April 1st to July 31st, 2025.

‘RESIDENCY 3.0 exploring porcelain’ supports national and international artists and designers and offers them a free space to research, experiment and develop innovative concepts in working with porcelain and ceramics. The program is aimed at graduates of art colleges, academies or related educational institutions who have intensive experience with ceramic materials and would like to deepen their artistic or design practice, especially with porcelain.

The residency offers a guest studio at the Höchster Porzellan-Manufaktur in Frankfurt-Höchst, a room in the residency guest apartment in Offenbach, a stipendium of €1000 per month, up to €500 material budget, a Deutschlandticket, as well as travel expenses to and from Offenbach, and more.

The residency is based at the Höchster Porzellan-Manufaktur, the second oldest porcelain manufactory in Germany, founded in 1746, and a new satellite location of the Hochschule für Gestaltung since 2023. The Hochschule für Gestaltung is transforming the Höchster Porzellan-Manufaktur, which is steeped in tradition, into a place of research and learning where porcelain design is further developed.

For four months, the scholarship holders can deepen their work with porcelain at HPM with an artistic project, working at least four days a week, 6-8 hours a day at HPM. During their stay, the scholarship holders will work on the realization of their concept as well as the execution, exhibition and documentation of their project work.

A jury of experts from teaching, research and the porcelain manufacturing selects the scholarship holders. The residency program starts twice a year, parallel to the HfG semester periods.
