Berlin Masters, the promotional platform for young Berlin-based artists, has extended an invitation to participate in their annual exhibition. They are calling for artists who live and work in Berlin, recently graduated or are about to graduate from art academies or universities of fine arts, who work in sculpture, film, installation, photography, painting, media art, performance, video or drawing and are under the age of 30.
It is required to register before personally appearing to the Open Call on Thursday, May 23rd, Friday, May 24th and Saturday, May 25th. You should bring your Curriculum vitae (including scholarships, awards, list of exhibitions and participations in exhibitions), documentation/information material or portfolio about previous artistic work and application form (will be sent upon application).
A Jury including the curator Philipp Bollmann and the Artistic Advisory Board will select about 10 artists to exhibit at Kühlhaus Berlin in October. From these ten, one will be awarded the art prize Toy Berlin Masters Award, endowed with 10,000 euros.

At the end of October, the Berlin Masters Foundation will be hosting two talks with key figures from the Berlin art community. The first talk during the Open Call period addresses “New formats of art mediation and ways of self-promotion for artists”. The second talk during the exhibition investigates the questions: “What comes after “Arm aber Sexy”? How can Berlin develop as a hot spot for artists and art?”
Berlin Masters was founded by Matthias Arndt in 2013. The organiser of the exhibition and all events is the non-profit foundation Berlin Masters Foundation, founded in 2017. The prize is donated by art collectors Monique and Max Burger and is dedicated to the memory of their son Yves Biggoer-Burger (1988-2011).
