Since 2013, Helsinki International Curatorial Programme (HICP) has offered four one-month residencies in Helsinki to curators of contemporary art each year, in collaboration with Frame Contemporary Art Finland and Helsinki International Artist Programme (HIAP). HICP curators will receive individualized assistance and networking support with Finnish artists and other art professionals tailored to their project or research. A public event (e.g. a lecture, workshop, screening) is organized as part of the residency to share the fellows’ curatorial research with the local professional audience.
In 2018, HICP is offering 2 one-month residencies in May and 2 one-month residencies in November. The HICP curators-in-residence will live and work at HIAP’s international residency centre on the island of Suomenlinna, a 15-minute ferry-trip away from the center of Helsinki. HIAP offers residents a combined workspace and accommodation. Frame grants them with €39 per day and a travel allowance from and to the residence. The selections will be made by a jury of local artists and art professionals, including representatives of Frame and HIAP, and selected fellows will be notified by the end of December 2017.
