We’re excited to giveaway one copy of ‘David Bowie. The Man Who Fell to Earth’, published by Taschen in conjunction with the forthcoming exhibition ‘David Bowie Is’ at the Brooklyn Museum in New York. The book presents stunning stills and behind-the-images taken by photographer David James during the production of Nicolas Roeg’s 1976 film ‘The Man Who Fell to Earth’.
In the science-fiction classic, Bowie plays the lead role of an alien named Newton. Newton first arrives on Earth in search of water but soon becomes a wealthy entrepreneur by using the advanced technologies of his distant homeland. More than his business pursuits, the film also chronicles Newton’s sexual awakening, the discovery of his alien identity, his imprisonment, abandonment, and eventual battle with alcoholism. ‘David Bowie. The Man Who Fell to Earth’ presents the young Bowie—alongside co-stars Candy Clark, Rip Torn, and Buck Henry—at his theatrical best.
