The Bemis Center for Contemporary Art in Omaha, Nebraska is now accepting applications from national and international artists of all backgrounds and practices for its 2019 Artist-in-Residence Program. Four different residency sessions will be held (January 23 – April 19, 2019; May 22 – August 16, 2019; September 18 – November 15, 2019) and each selected artist will be provided with a large, private live/work space complete with a full kitchen and bathroom. Artists-in-residence will have 24-hour access to installation and production spaces inside Bemis Center’s 100,000 square-foot facility as well as the 9,000-square-foot Odaka Sculpture & Ceramics Facility.
Artists based in the United States will receive a $1,000USD monthly stipend for the duration of the residency as well as a $500USD travel stipend. Due to visa limitations, instead of a stipend, international artists-in-residence will be eligible to receive full reimbursement of qualified expenses, including airfare, ground transportation, meals, etc. During each residency, the Bemis Center hosts a public Open House/Open Studios program to give artists the opportunity to show attendees their processes and works-in-progress.
