The Zentrum für Internationale Lichtkunst Unna and the Innogy Stiftung für Energie und Gesellschaft are currently inviting artists who incorporate light into their work to compete for the International Light Art Award. The prize is awarded every two years to promising artists whose works are groundbreaking for the further development of light art.
They are looking for artists who use light as a primary tool and offer a glimpse into a possible future of light art. New technologies, energy use and sustainability will play an important role in the competition. The purpose of the International Light Art Award is to inspire the development of new forms of light art. The International Light Art Award would like to offer a platform for an upcoming generation of light artists.

To participate in the ILAA 2019, one must upload their concept, a short artistic bio, a description of why light is a meaningful material in their work and a recent portrait. Three finalists will be chosen by a jury and will then have the opportunity to realize their concepts and have an exhibition at the Zentrum für Internationale Lichtkunst Unna in June.
