The Rabbit Hole collective was founded in New York in 2008. With over 2000 members in 56 countries, the collective is encouraging and stimulating new ideas about the self and other with the aim to challenge culturally-constructed limits and borders, all through art and and storytelling. For the 2020 residency, the Rabbit Hole collective invites artists to respond to this year’s theme: “the art of remembering.” It is the first global residency programme organised in collaboration with Fondazione Morra in Naples. The Fondazione Morra is a cultural centre in Naples, which has previously hosted artists such as Hermann Nitsch, Marina Abramovic, Bob Watts and Peter Kubelka.
Especially encouraged to apply are artists interested in topics such as: voyaging, journeys, ports and waterways; as well as in ancient symbols, scripts and codes through mediums such as poetry, theatre, sound, mathematics and performance. From all the applicants, 7 artists will be chosen to spend 14 days in the heart of Naples, exploring “the art of remembering.” The accommodation for the artists is provided in the artist residency of Fondazione Morra. It is a newly renovated living quarter in the heart of Naples, with an open kitchen for collaborative meals and playground to hold salons. The workspace is at the Hermann Nitsch Museum, where all creative processes will take place. During the residency, the chosen artists are expected to develop an answer to “the art of remembering”. At the final event of the residency the artists will have an opportunity to meet local artists and to introduce the developed methodology.
The 7 artists will be selected based on their artistic merit, passion for the subject, as well as their match as a team. The applicants from various fields are invited to apply: artists, curators, writers, composers, poets, researchers, musicians, or performers. The residency will take place from April 20, 2020 in Naples.
