The Farm Margaret River, located in the south-west of Western Australia, encourages artists from all nationalities to apply to their five-to-eight week residency.
The farm sits upon land farmed for four generations and, prior to settlement, country of the Wardandi cultural group of the Nyoongar people. In light of this deep rooted relationship to the land it is built upon, the Farm Margaret River engages with agricultural sciences, visual arts and the community to explore and observe our united possibilities.
The visiting artist will live and work in a contained live-in studio that is surrounded by arable paddocks, fresh water springs and bushland. The Farm Margaret River is nestled within a rural community versed in organic, holistic and sustainable living practises.
The artist-in-residence will not only be able to develop a new body of work or continue their practice in a new environment, but have the opportunity to exhibit their art for the people of The Farm Margaret River, the surrounding rural community and the state of Western Australia.
The site-specific residency takes place for five-to-eight weeks between October and November 2020. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the residency dates will be reassessed moved to 2021 if necessary, as arranged with the successful applicant. The artist will receive an AUD $5000 artist fee, materials and accommodation. A travel subsidy will be negotiated individually with the successful applicant.
