Premiering in 2019 as a platform for science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM), Curiocity Brisbane showcases STEAM‑related events, large-scale physical and digital installations, music and conversations. Curiocity Brisbane returns in 2021 for 17 days from March 12th to 28th.
Curiocities are where art, science, innovation and technology intersect through large‑scale interactive physical or digital installations. They interact with audiences of all ages, making Brisbane a playable city for visitors to touch, see, hear, learn and wonder. With the city and river as a backdrop, creators, makers, artists, engineers, architects and others will temporarily transform Brisbane through STEAM-based interpretations. The Curiocities will be located at open public precincts in and around the city and operated daily from 8am to 8pm. The precincts include the Brisbane CBD, the City Botanical Gardens, Brisbane’s Cultural precinct and/ or other locations at Curiocity Brisbane’s discretion.
Expressions of Interest for Curiocities are now open for consideration as part of Curiocity Brisbane 2021. Creators and makers, artists, engineers, architects and others are invited to submit an online Expression of Interest via the Curiocity Brisbane website.
People aged over 18 years may submit an Expression of Interest. Individuals, collectives, organisations, work groups and others may apply. Submissions must indicate if the work is a physical interactive installation, a digital interactive
installation, or both.
Curiocity Brisbane will provide base investment from $ 5,000, up to a maximum of $ 50,000 per Curiocity for the selected installations, subject to Curiocity Brisbane’s approval.
