Since its initiation in 2008, the Switch project has aimed to investigate the connection between art works and their sites by exhibiting lens-based works in the public sphere. Annually, the artist-led project organizes screenings of international film and video art works. Funded and supported by the Tipperary Arts Office, Switch is located in a small town in Ireland, County Tipperary, called Nenagh.
For their 12th edition, the Switch project is inviting artists who work with film, moving image and lens-based media to submit works responding to the theme of “Home”. The annual event consists of 8 lens-based works by 8 artists that are installed in 8 different locations throughout the town centre of Nenagh. Large windows are used as projection screens in order to run the selected artworks simultaneously on a loop, from 4pm until midnight daily for one week. The event will take place from November 1st–7th this year. Each artist will be paid 225 Euros for the showing of their work. Submissions should include a short statement describing the artist’s proposal, as well as a biography.
