The 2023 edition of transmediale calls for proposals that creatively engage with the scale and capability of socio-technical systems. We welcome proposals that explore ways to inhabit, expose, rethink, subvert or queer the multi-scalar nature of our contemporary technological condition.
The festival will take place at Akademie der Künste Berlin (Hanseatenweg) during the first week of February. Proposals should relate to the festival’s theme: scale, either through topic or format. The call is open to multiple formats including: algorithms, artworks, bots, discussions, essays, events, experiments, films, lectures, online projects, panels, performances, sounds, walks, or workshops.
The call is open to artists, researchers, designers, architects, and activists (working in collectives or individually) from all disciplines to submit new or existing proposals responding to the festival theme. Selected applications will receive an artist’s fee, travel, and accommodation during the festival.
