Cloud Cities at Hamburger Bahnhof

It’s a rare wonder to feel breathless at an exhibition. However, exploring Tomás Saraceno’s CLOUD CITIES at Hamburger Bahnhof really tests the limits of an individual’s experience of fundamental elements, such as earth, air, reflectivity, gravity and space. To attempt to describe it in text somehow does this show a disservice. And while the photographs can’t quite transmit that feeling of immense wonder, fluctuating between feeling microscopic (as if floating between magnified atoms) and cosmic, perhaps they come a bit closer. Ultimately, this is a show that is worth taking the time to see. Rather, it’s a show worth suspending time, to see, feel, and become deeply effected by.
