Open Call for KVOST Residency and Claus Michaletz Preis

Mar. 10, 2025

The Kunstverein Ost is announcing this year’s KVOST Stipendium, awarded in combination with the Claus Michaletz Preis since 2022. Together with the KVOST scholarship, which includes an artist residency in Berlin with a subsequent solo exhibition at KVOST, the awarding of the Claus Michaletz Preis enables further, sustainable support for the artists.

In memory of the publisher and founder of the Secco Pontanova Foundation, Claus Michaletz, the Claus Michaletz prize of €10,000 is awarded to artists from Central and Eastern Europe. The prize is awarded once a year and is connected to the KVOST scholarship. Of the prize money, €8000 are at the free disposal of the scholarship holders; €2000 will serve for purchasing a work by the selected artist for the Secco Pontanova Foundation. Included in the scholarship is a residential opportunity, a work space in Berlin and travel budget of €2500.

With the studio scholarship and artist-in-residence program, KVOST invites selected artists to explore the multifaceted nature of Leipziger Strasse / Dönhoffplatz and its surroundings or delve into other geographical and biographical aspects of the East, presenting the resulting works in a solo exhibition. This scholarship is aimed at artists whose biographical roots lie in Central and Eastern Europe / the former Eastern Bloc.

The residence at KVOST will take place during a six-week period from August to September 2025. The exhibition at KVOST will open during Berlin Art Week (September 10th-14th, 2025).
