Open Call for Designers for WDCD Accelerator 2025

Mar. 12, 2025

International platform What Design Can Do (WDCD) and Dutch pocketwear brand Secrid are inviting designers worldwide to participate in the WDCD Accelerator 2025. This program challenges innovative designers and creative entrepreneurs who contribute to social and environmental solutions.

The WDCD Accelerator focuses on designers who are working on solutions for circularity, biodiversity and inclusivity across various sectors, including consumer products, food, construction and fashion. From biodegradable textiles and regenerative urban planning to circular supply chain processes and innovative visual storytelling, WDCD Accelerator welcomes all kinds of design solutions as long as the innovation contributes to a circular economy.

Applications are welcome at all stages—from early ideas to established businesses—whether they involve redesigning materials, products or narratives. The most promising ideas will be supported through a development program, including coaching, funding and a strong network to help advance these circular and regenerative innovations.

An international jury will select eight winning teams in April 2025. In addition to a €1,000 prize, the winners will kick off with a sprint week in Amsterdam, which will provide them with coaching, inspiration and company visits, followed by six weeks of online mentorship from a global network of experts. As a highlight, selected teams will present their projects to industry leaders and investors during WDCD Live events in Amsterdam, Mexico City or Delhi to increase their visibility and strengthen their networks. Secrid will provide extra support to three of the eight winning teams, including a €7,777 grant and a spot on the Secrid Talent Podium during Dutch Design Week 2025 for one team.

Previous WDCD Challenges have already led to groundbreaking ideas and enterprises, from innovative water purification systems and circular fashion concepts to sustainable packaging solutions and social design projects. The organization has supported over 100 projects worldwide, helping them scale their impact.
