We’re heading East! This year, Berlin Art Link is looking forward to our media partnership with The internationally acclaimed India Art Fair for it’s 6th edition in New Delhi from January 30 – February 2, 2014.
Considered to be South Asia’s leading art fair, it attracts over 300,000 people each year. Leading collectors and renowned museums coming from all four corners of the globe – including countries such as the United States, Germany, Portugal, Australia, Argentina and Singapore (to name a few) – are hosted at the art fair; evidently making it a crucial platform for encouraging dialogue and trade in the region. This year, on top of the international guest artists, 47 Indian art galleries will be showcasing contemporary art including painting, sculpture, new media, installations and performance art.
Alongside the fair, Art Projects presents a programme that focuses on connecting both the event’s indoor and outdoor spaces with high profile Indian and international artists, such as Portuguese artist Jose Garcia Miguel with his multi-arts installation Tears of Portugual. In addition, visitors will be able to attend the Speaker’s Forum: free, inspiring lectures from some of the great minds of today’s art scene such as director of the Tate Modern London, Chris Dercon and Philip Dodd, Chairman of Made in China.
One more highlight we’re looking forward to is Listen Up!, curated by Co-Curators Diana Campbell Betancourt (Creative India Foundation, Hyderabad and Mumbai) and Tim Goossens (The Clocktower, New York), a “unique public sound exhibition proposed to transform the way people experience art, using digital platforms to make sound art publicly accessible across Delhi without any restrictions of permissions or sound pollution…[Goossens and Betancourt| have created an exhibition platform to allow audiences across Delhi to experience internationally and locally relevant sound works via their cell phones using a mobile ‘ap’ and dial in phone numbers, as well as through the radio.”
