Visible White Photo & Video Prize was created to foster the talent of international photographers and video artists, who engage creatively with current personal, social, and political issues. Visible White 2014, curated by Paul di Felice and Marinella Paderni, is calling for submissions until 28 February 2014. The classification for submissions is a single photography/video work or project relevant to the theme “You See Me.”
“You See Me” is a close examination of self-constructed personal identities in the digital age. With the spread of social media and the accessibility of technology, a large amount of current amateur photography (in the digital age) centers on various representations of identity (selfies, portraits, poses, etc). These photographs and videos have developed a unique dynamic of social self-understanding, wherein personal identity and self-perception continually approach narcissism and public image hyper-awareness. Visible White encourages submissions that deal with these new trends of identity representation and dynamics in contemporary, artistic portrait photography.
3,000 Euro prizes in the “Single Work” and “Project” categories.
