The School for Curatorial Studies, Arts and Communication located in Venice, Italy, calls for Curators with experience in any of the following areas of contemporary art: curatorial studies, theory and philosophy of art, art history, art management and art production, visual arts, fine arts, arts and new media, architecture, interior architecture, photography, interior decoration, installation, design, theatre, scenic design and music, as well as university graduates in the cultural studies field and literary studies.
The Course in Curatorial Practice is an English-taught, intensive program on the history of contemporary visual arts and practices of exhibition-making. The course is designed to increase the students understanding of the intellectual and technical tasks of the curator, related to the set up of exhibitions and projects.
The Program is divided in four modules. In the first module the students participate in weekly activities such as artist studio visits, tours of exhibition spaces, networking events, and workshops with a variety of experts and practitioners (26 May – 11 July 2014). The second module includes a three week tour of Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina (1-21 September 2014). During the trip, the school will arrange meetings with artists, curators, museums and non-profit centers. In the third and fourth module the students set up their own curatorial project (29 Sep. – 10 Oct. and 1-12 Dec. 2014), an exhibition or an art event and the publication of a printed catalogue.
The deadline for applications is March 31st, 2014. To apply it is necessary to submit the application form together with a resumé and a cover letter.
