OPEN CALL for Berlin-based Artists // The 2014 Berlin Art Prize

Berlin, Art, Open Call, Berlin Art Prize, Berlin Art Link

In it’s second edition, the Berlin Art Prize is calling for submissions until March 15, 2014. If you are an artist and have been living in Berlin for a minimum of six months, you are eligible to apply. Each of the 30 nominees selected for the prize will be featured in a group exhibition, taking place from June 14-29, 2014 in the Kühlhaus at Gleisdreieck, which will be documented in a catalogue. The two-week exhibition will also include a program of lectures, performances, concerts, and special events for children and adults.

The 2014 Berlin Art Prize jury, which includes Cosima von Bonin (artist), Kimberly Bradley (art critic), Judith Hopf (artist, professor at the Städelschule, Frankfurt), Egill Saebjörnsson (artist), and Nicolaus Schafhausen (curator, director of Kunsthalle Wien), will evaluate every applicant anonymously without considering previous work, education, or history. In this way, the prize is unique in allowing the artistic work to speak for itself. Thirty artist nominees will be selected for the exhibition—three of which will be recognized as the official winners in the categories of “Best Composition”, “Best Concept” and “Jury’s Choice”. The winning artists will receive prize money, a trophy (designed by the artist Markus Selg), and an invitation for a one-month residency in Tbilisi, Georgia in collaboration with the Goethe Institute.
