Javier Ramirex is a Colombian-born artist who lives and works in Berlin. As the title of his latest exhibition at Alejandro Gallery in Barcelona suggests: Ramirex focuses on the confluence of light and sound in his vibrant works. He is a multi-media artist who uses everything from acrylic to spray paint, to produce abstract and figurative pieces. His paintings show almost futuristic geometries, the colours and patterns shooting out of the canvases in sporadic bursts.
Elektrofarben, the latest series of paintings by Javier Ramirex, interacts conceptually with the techno club scene of Berlin. Incorporating graffiti elements, Ramirex creates dense constellations of intersecting beams to mimick the black background and neon light patterns familiar from dance parties, complete with glow-in-the-dark capabilities.
