C/O Berlin, in an ongoing collaboration with the 65th International Film Festival Berlin, is offering a chance for 13 photographers, aged 20-25, who are still in training to join the professionals on the red carpet of Berlin’s acclaimed annual film festival, the Berlinale. The Close Up! project is now looking for applications from young photographers: the chosen 13 will have the opportunity to work as professional photojournalists during the event.
The selected photographers will be expected to develop their own unique image of the Berlinale in a photo series. They will have unique access to the event, with the chance to see the various faces of the film industry: not just international stars and red carpet glamour, but also what is behind the scenes, the activity of the staff and responses of the audience. The selected photographers will be guided through the steps, from inspiration to producing a finished series. These works will then be displayed at the end of the Berlinale at C/O Berlin, at their new Amerika Haus space, with an awards ceremony for the best three photo series as selected by a jury.
C/O Berlin and Berlinale have made a remarkable effort over the last ten years in providing professional support for young talent in photojournalism with the Close Up! Project. It will run for the duration of the 65th International Film Festival Berlin, from Feb. 5 to Feb. 15, 2015.
Applications must be postmarked no later than Friday, Jan. 9, 2015.
