The seventeenth edition of Art Rotterdam offers the latest developments in visual art in a variety of exhibition concepts. Made up of four different sections, the fair promises a host of media and perspectives from international artists and galleries; video art at Projections, installations and performances at Intersections, the latest generation of Dutch artists in Prospects & Concepts and young galleries with solo presentations at the New Art section. With an abundance of young art and the well-balanced mix of commercial and non-commercial presentations, Art Rotterdam is an art fair for all art lovers.

This year, Art Rotterdam aims to make navigation of the fair even more accessible. The Dutch art critic Hans den Hartog Jager will illustrate his personal highlights of the fair in a short introductory film. This film is on show at Intersections and is the ideal starting point for your visit to the fair.

Encounters is a three-day debate-programme initiated by Galerie West, Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art and the magazine for contemporary art Metropolis M. To inform you digitally of what’s on show at Art Rotterdam, this year the event has teamed up exclusively with the digital art platform Artsy.net. A week before the fair starts you can browse through the website and see what will be presented by the galleries as well as background information of various artists.

In addition, Berlin and Naples-based artist Ryan Mendoza is stirring up controversy with his installation ‘House from Detroit.’ For the work, a home from Detroit is being demolished and shipped in containers to Europe. The home will be reconstructed at the main entrance of Art Rotterdam so visitors can experience the world premiere of Mendoza’s piece – a critical reflection on a recent crisis in American history.

Art Rotterdam will be hosted in the breathtaking spaces of the Van Nellefabriek, a Unesco World Heritage Site, from Thursday February 11th to Sunday February 14th. For a full list of participating galleries, click here.
