The concept of drifting architecture sheds light on the cultural process of design, techniques and materials flowing outward beyond borders while, paradoxically, the attempted control of these ideas is exerted from within, never catching up to that initial propagation. The open call for architects is an opportunity to trace the interconnectivity of designs actualized in Central and Eastern Europe during the past three years.

The selected projects will be shown at the Drifting Architecture Thematic Exhibition, which is the central event at the East Centric 2016 Architecture Triennale in Bucharest, Romania. The focus of the event, taking place between September and October 2016, is for architects to be able display how they have answered the needs specific to the context of the region of their design. The chosen pieces will additionally be included in an exhibition catalogue which recontextualizes the works alongside critical and theoretical articles.
The opportunity is only open to architects, designers, urban planners, landscape architects or architecture, design, urban planning or landscape architecture offices from countries in Central and Eastern Europe. All submitted projects must have been finalized between 2013 and 2016. The entry deadline is April 5th. The curatorial team, headed by Romanian writer and poet Bogdan Ghiu, will make their announcement of chosen works on May 5th, 2016.
