In conjunction with feminist film platform Lunar, Acud Macht Neu will host the Berlin premiere of ‘Ma’, the 2015 award-winning experimental film by U.S. director Celia Rowlson-Hall. Recently shown at MoMA PS1 and the Venice Film Festival, the silent feature-length film offers a feminist retelling of the pilgrimage of the Virgin Mary, set against the stark desert landscape of the American Southwest. The film premiere will also feature a screening of ‘m/OTHER’, a short video by Berlin-based artist Miloš Trakilović, which re-imagines the maternal image and examines the metaphorical life-extending properties of pregnancy.
The double screening of ‘Ma’ and ‘m/OTHER’ is presented by Lunar, a Berlin-based curatorial project that explores feminist and queer ideas through the moving image. Initiated and developed by Christina Demetriou, Lunar exhibits experimental short film events in non-cinema locations across Berlin.
