Swedish arts initiative Kalejdohill have just launched their exciting residency project Inhabitant Zero. Graduates and professionals of art, design, architecture, sociology and other relevant fields are invited to apply to be the first inhabitants of the Yellow House. Based in the Stockholm suburb Järfalla, it will host the residents while they produce a project reflecting life in a foreign country, and in a development before it has been developed. The aim is to create a society of curious minds, where the citizens are inquisitive and pro-active in their involvement with the world around them.

Inhabitant Zero is now calling for idea proposals to win one of the five month-long residency slots, and the project itself is open to interpretation. It could be a study of the surrounding area, research into the issues of inhabiting a foreign place, the particularities of Stockholm suburbia, or an investigation of a public space in the making. Essentially, Inhabitant Zero’s main request is to surprise them!
The winning proposals will be chosen by an international jury comprised of IDEAS CITY director, architect and curator Joseph Grima, Head of the Institute of Art at FHNW Academy of Art & Design Chus Martínez, and writer and artist Ingo Niermann. The new inhabitants of the Yellow House will be granted a stipend of €4.000 each, plus an invitation to participate in subsequent publications and exhibitions of the project. Basic amenities including travel expenses, electricity, heating and wifi will be provided, as well as access to the municipality of Järfalla for other needs that may arise.
