A colourful, handcrafted yoga mat was exhibited on the floor in a private studio at Povvera this Tuesday. The installation, created by artists from the Studio of Young Artists Budapest, served as an alternative set design for the performance by Dávid Somló and Imre Vass: ‘it comes it goes’.
As the lights were dimmed, Somló started to play a looped melody on his bass guitar while Vass jumped to his rhythm. With this gesture, they illustrated how repetition too is a form of change. Much like a dancer in training, the simple jump was never executed in quite the same way.
The performance ‘it comes it goes’ was part of the Hungarian Contemporary Dance Festival, taking place this week at Povvera and Dock 11 in Berlin.
