Open Call for Artists // Social Art Award 2017

The Institute for Art and Innovation e.V. (IAI) is calling for artists and cultural actors of all areas to put forward applications for the Social Art Award 2017.

IAI is a multidisciplinary institute that explores and promotes art as a source of social impact and change. Likeminded artists are given the chance to showcase their work and the aim of the award is to inspire and encourage the rise of social art. They are looking for creatives who aspire to make emotionally-capturing experiences and who wish to heighten the recognition of the value and importance of social art within today’s society. There are no restrictions on medium, gender, training or nationality.

Participants will be given the opportunity to exhibit in Berlin, to receive two printed copies plus the digital version of the ‘Social Art’ book as well as a 1,000 EUR prize.

There are three stages of the selection process. At selection stage one, the 50 most promising submissions to be published in the Social Art Award Book will be chosen. At stage two, a shortlist of 10 (+2 from public voting) will be selected for the final judgement. At stage three, the final judgement by the jury is made and they will select three winners for the Social Art Award 2017. These will be officially announced at the award ceremony and opening of the exhibition in August/ September 2017 in Berlin.

The registration fee for participation is 50 EUR for each submitted work. There is a reduced fee of 25 EUR per image available for applicants under the age of 25. To apply, participants must submit one image alongside a short description and a statement describing how the work is related to social art. The application can be uploaded here.
