World of CO is a self-directed multidisciplinary Artist Residency Program located in Sofia, Bulgaria, for artists from all over the world. Residents will have the opportunity to explore the capital of Bulgaria, located in the center of the clash between East and West and feel its unique spirit and contradictory atmosphere. This experience will provoke your creativity and give you space and time to focus on your work while collaborating with other international artists.
The duration of the residency program in Sofia is flexible, from 1 month to 6 months, beginning from July. The main language in the residency is English.
Submissions from all disciplines are welcome, including visual arts, painting, sculpture, ceramics, performing arts, textiles, literature, new media, animation, printmaking, curatorial studies, arts administration, filmmaking, architecture, design, dancing, music, theater and so on.
During the Artist Residency in Bulgaria, each artist will have a workspace in the city center of Sofia, in a studio shared with Bulgarian artists (located within a 20 minute walking distance to the residency apartment). As a participant you will receive: Bulgarian language lessons, workshops on Balkan traditional craft techniques, life drawing sessions, list of art and culture events in Sofia, SIM card, support during the residency, media presence in local media, and a final group exhibition with the individual works of every artist and collaborated artwork of the team.
